Rynaert and Catrina

General Information

The genealogy or region of German origin has not been found for either individual. Many of the German immigrants at that time were from the Palatinate region. Birth dates are estimates. Rynaert has alternate spellings (Reynard, Rynard, Raynard). Potts also has several variations in Germany (Pot, Pots Pott. Potts, Potz). The names and marriage information (October 1756 - Reformed Dutch Church in Churchville, Bucks County Pennsylvania) was found online for Catrina Koppen and Rynaert Pots (also known as Rynard Potts). Another source used the name Cathran with no surname. It was originally assumed that they were married in Germany, but it is possible they were married after immigration. That same source indicated that Catrina was born in 1728 in Pennsylvania – which does not fit into the family narrative provided by James Henry Potts in his book Every Life a Delight. His book entry does not refer to her by name. The family story also indicates that Ryneart was buried in Drummondsville, Ontario.
